Turkish Victory Day swim-Swim Hellespont, Gallipoli to Ҫanakkale, Turkey

Thursday, 30 August, 2012 (All day) This annual event is a swim race organised by local authorities. This date commemorates the final victory for the Turks in the Turkish War of Independence in 1922 against the Greeks.
There is a time limit of 1½ hours to complete the course. The Turkish Coastguard reserve the right of removing swimmers from the water if they do not finish the crossing by this time.
