A New Zealand team has competed in the annual swim across the Dardenelles in Turkey as part of a build-up to the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.

For centuries, the Dardenelles Strait has proved irresistible, even in brutal conditions.

Bodger still has one eye on Cook Strait

WHEN Whakatane swimmer Mike Bodger fell agonisingly short of swimming Cook Strait, he was reluctant to commit to having another go – but he has taken the first step.

What Bodger describes as “closure” on the swim, has been firmed up with him booking another attempt for 2012.
