2-kilometre swim opens Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club (Malta) calendar of events

A packed calendar of sports events organised by Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club during the forthcoming summer months, will get underway on June 7 with the first 2-kilometre swim from the Club’s open water swimming championships 2011. These championships consist of five 2-kilometre events and a 4-kilometre swim. They also serve as qualifying events for the Club’s 5.5K and 11K channel swims – the Gozo-Malta and the Malta-Gozo-Malta scheduled to be held on August 20.

Birkirkara St Joseph’s long-distance swimmer Keith Bartolo has qualified to be part of a team of swimmers who will attempt to set a new world record by swimming 12 ways on Lake Windermere for a distance of 201.6km (126 miles).

Birkirkara St. Joseph’s long distance swimmer Keith Bartolo has qualified to be part of a team of swimmers who will attempt to set a new World Record by swimming 12 ways on Lake Windermere for a distance of 201.6 km (126miles). The other team members will be Dee Llewellyn, Liane Llewellyn, Michelle Sharples, Thomas Noblett and Michelle Lefton. The team will depart from Ambleside on Friday 27th May at 7.00 p.m. and we will be striving to finish around 6pm on Monday 30th May. The swim will be ratified by the British Long Distance Swimming Association.
