SWEDISH SWIMMERS JOHANSSON AND HOLMQUIST TO ATTEMPT 30KM SWIM FOR CHARITY

Swedish swimmers Victor Johansson and Marcus Holmquist are going to attempt to swim 30 km in Sweden’s lake Vättern at the beginning of August in order to raise money for the World Food Program USA.

The lake is the second largest in Sweden, behind Lake Vänern and in the summer it reaches a temperature range of 12 and 17 degrees Celsius (54 to 63 degrees Fahrenheit).

Recreational, competitive or for health reasons, Scandinavians aren't short on excuses for jumping into the cold winter waters of the north. In Skellefteå they even celebrate it with a yearly festival.
Though the jury is still out on perceived health benefits, outdoor swimming in the middle of the winter is a Scandinavian pastime that is sure to get your endorphins going.

Night swimming in the bright nordic summer night. Starting from the Finish shore right after midnight, Finnish hour. You will not only swim over the border between Sweden and Finland, but also cross the Arctic Circle and the time zone. The one that is able to swim the distance in less than 60 minutes will actually cross the finish-line before the day the competition began.
